Family Life

Hopes and Dreams for 2017

I want 2017 to be a year full of positivity, happiness, new adventures, making memories and having fun. So rather than setting myself resolutions as such I’ve decided to set myself a few loose goals and wishes, they are mainly hopes and dreams for my family and I but I had to give myself a little target or two for my blog also.

Become more comfortable and confident in front of the camera

You may have noticed that there are rarely any photos of me on my blog or social media, this is partly because I’m always the one taking the photos (and we haven’t quite grasped the use of a tripod and camera timer yet) but also because I’m always over critical of any photos of myself. This year I am determined to get my face in front of the camera more, not only for my blog and social media but also my own self esteem. I’d also like to be able to look through photos with my daughters in years to come and not have them question why there are no photos of Mummy. I’ve managed to post one photo of myself already and I’ve been dabbling in Instagram stories a little too.

Share Positivity with others

I’d like to think I’m a pretty positive and happy person, of course like everyone I have my ups and downs but I’d really like to share a few of the tricks and tips that I’ve learnt from attending counselling and reading books to help others find the light on the darker days.

Be Healthier

Now I know this is a pretty common one, but this year I really want to eat healthier and exercise more. Not necessarily to lose weight but more for health and fitness. I also want to ensure we as a family are having more of a healthy balanced diet so 2017 will be the year for trying plenty of new recipes and foods.

Visit Disneyland Paris

This one is a slight cheat to be honest… We already have a trip to Disneyland Paris booked for the end of January but its somewhere we’ve been wanting to visit for a while and to say I’m excited would be a crazy understatement (apologies in advance for the future Disney spam!!).

Have a Staycation

This year both my Mum and Grandma celebrate a big birthday, I would love for us to have a little family staycation at some point in the year to celebrate their birthdays and to just have some quiet family time away from home, work and everyday life.

Spend more time with Family

In 2017 I’d like to spend more time with my extended family, my Grandma regularly comes to Devon to visit us and my parents but I’d like to spend a few weekends visiting her, my Uncle and Auntie and cousins this year. I feel terrible that we didn’t manage to visit them at all in 2016 and I have every intention of making up for that in 2017.

Decorate and Personalise our Living Room and Kitchen

Many of you will know we moved into a new build at the end of 2015, the house doesn’t ‘need’ any work doing to it but there are a few things I’d like to do to have the house feel more like ours. 2017 will be the year that I style downstairs, if money and time allow then I will move upstairs but for the moment I’m putting all my DIY energy and interior design ideas into the living room and kitchen.

See my Sister

This is probably the one I am most impatient for, my sister is currently having an incredible time travelling and seeing some of the magnificent wonders of the world. She has been away since October 2015 and although I am so happy she’s making some wonderful memories and enjoying once in a life time experiences I really am missing her. I am so pleased my parents are off to visit her in New Zealand in just a few months, but unfortunately money and two small children makes the trip near impossible for us… However, she has promised she will be home for Christmas 2017 and I may be more than just a little excited, obviously I don’t want to wish the year away but December cannot come soon enough.

Aims for my Blog

Attend at least one blogging conference, I’ve already purchased a ticket for Blog On this May so if all goes to plan I’ve got this one in the bag. I’d also like to reach 4000 followers on Instagram, for a lot of bloggers this is a pretty small target but if I can achieve it by the end of 2017 I will be one very happy little blogger. I would like to write and publish at least one blog post a week other than my two linky posts, as well as blogging and being a Mummy and Wife I also work part time so I sometimes struggle with this. I’m also not particularly good at time management and this year I hope to become better at planning, organising and balancing life, family, work and blogging.

Did you set yourself any goals this year, or make any hopes and dreams for 2017?

What a lovely, but very realistic, set of goals!! I didn’t realise your sister was travelling-that must be sooo exciting! But you must understandably miss her a lot! I can’t wait for the Disney spam already! I can’t wait to take the boys to Disneyland-and actually, this is the year that we are going crazy doing stuff when we can, because the eldest is going to school in September, so you’ve just inspired me to look into going-my husband is researching it as we speak!!
I also want to get to 4000 Insta followers too by the end of the year, but it’s such a sloooooow crawl…!!!! Thanks for hostessing with me this week! xx

Oh yes!! You should definitely go if you can, there are lots of good deals around- we booked through Magic Breaks, your boys would absolutely love it!! My sister went traveling just before Allana was born so she has yet to meet her and Willow wasn’t quite 2 so they’ll be 2 and 4 by the time she’s home! We can reach our Insta target I’m sure- in fact I think we’ll smash it Luce! Xxx

Good list! Good luck with it all, and I’m with you on the point about pics of you with your daughters, I have a million pics of my husband with our baby but none of me – a tripod might be the way forwards! #bigpinklink

I am definitely guilty of not getting in enough photos with my family too so think I’ll pinch this goal for myself 🙂 Best of luck, that’s fab that you’ve got a ticket for BlogOn, I’m considering it but have a few expensive months ahead so will have to see! #bigpinklink

It was lovely to see a pic of you shared on IG and I look forward to seeing more shots of you in front of the camera too in 2017. Some lovely goals and aspirations here Hannah. I particularly love the ones about spending more time with your family. It is so easy to get tied up in parenting and all that involves and not take time out to visit family and I was really guilty of that last year too with extended and immediate family! My younger sister lives 5 miles away which is not far but in London terms it is and we have been crap at getting together and this year we both made a pact to do it at least once a month. Good luck with your blogging goals too, I am sure you will smash it. #bigpinklink

I am feeling put to shame reading everyone’s brave and ambitious new year posts. I have not written my goals down for fear of not achieving them. But I feel the only person standing in my way is me. Good luck with all yours, especially seeing your family and your sister. #bigpinklink

Like, you, I set goals rather than resolutions and like you I struggle to blog with working and parenting.
