Just Hannah Jane

My girls and I are lucky enough to have been out exploring in our new wonderfully beautiful but brilliantly practical waterproof rain coats from Lighthouse Clothing. Being a family who are regularly out and about, no matter the weather we were very excited when Lighthouse asked if we’d like to road test and style a few coats from their gorgeous A/W 16 range.

Finding practical and waterproof jackets that not only look good but actually do the job can sometimes prove difficult. But Lighthouse have put together the perfect combination of style, quality and durability to provide some truly first class waterproof outwear.

With so many beautiful places to explore here in Devon these ‘Ella’ coats are proving themselves to be the perfect lightweight waterproof jackets for both our girls. I adore the bright hand drawn prints- Allana is wearing Cloud Print whilst Willow (being a huge fan of the colour pink) is sporting the Bird Print. The coats also feature a cosy fleece lining in a coordinating colour and a super soft waterproof outer. The coats kept both girls very dry and warm during our drizzly and damp walk along the very beautiful but pretty windy coastal path.

I chose the ‘Lana Hooded Waterproof Rain Coat’ in Blackberry and have to say I have never loved a waterproof coat as much as I do this one. I am so used to plastically crunchy sticky waterproof jackets that it was a pleasant surprise to find this coat highly waterproof but still soft and breathable. The jacket a soft padded lining that is thoroughly warm but surprisingly lightweight and comfy to wear. I am a huge fan of the nautical drawstring detail providing the ability to pull in the waist for a more fitted look or loosen off when you feel the need for extra layers underneath. And the pockets are huge, absolutely perfect for all those Mummy essentials that need to be carried around on a daily basis.

For our winter coastal walk I teamed my coat with some nice bright blues and pinks to brighten what was a pretty grey day. It was a particularly chilly day so my favourite blue waffle knit jumper made an appearance, however the coat was so warm I probably could have warn something slightly thinner. I’m a huge fan of scarves and I like how this one particularly ties this whole outfit together with the blues, purples and pinks. I was also wearing my bright floral welly boots- an absolute must for any coastal or muddy walk.

I wore the coat again this weekend but this time for a trip to the shops, its been particularly cold and wet in the South West so this coat has really been needed. This time I decided to team it with my dark jeans, a dark top and my staple brown winter boots. I think my brown boots tied the outfit together surprisingly well due to the small brown detailing and brass fastenings on the coat. I love that with the hood up you can see the pretty fastenings that attach the hood to the coat. I really like all the tiny details that make this coat feel and look a little more high end than just your average waterproof coat.

The girls coats were originally priced at £29.95 but are currently only £23.95 in their sale, whilst my coat was originally £99.95 and is now being sold for £79.95, an absolute steal in my opinion. After having worn the coats and having put them through their paces plus considering the quality and attention to detail on each piece, I would personally be more than happy to pay the full price.

If you’re on the hunt for new waterproof clothing to see you and your family through to Spring then I’d definitely suggest popping over to look at the Lighthouse‘s gorgeous collection of Women’s, Men’s and Children’s outerwear. They are just the perfect addition to any winter wardrobe, whether you’re looking for something to wear for the school run, a walk on the beach, through the woods or even just popping to the shops.

They look and sound absolutely perfect!! I agree, it’s really hard to find decent waterproofs, especially for the children, that really do the job!! My two have coats that are supposed to be waterproof, but I’m thinking more ‘showerproof,’ as they got caught in the rain at nursery yesterday, and were both soaked through!! You and the girls look gorgeous modelling these!
