Learning about time with Ice-Watch

17th July 2017 28 Comments

At the age of three, Willow is now starting to understand the concept of time. She regularly wanders into the kitchen, looks at the clock and ‘tells me the time.’ She also now runs around telling me we’re late when we have nowhere to be or that I have to wait two minutes for her to do something! So when Ice-Watch got in touch to send the girls and I a few of their gorgeous timepieces I just knew we had to give them a try.

Willow was beyond excited when the watches arrived, I chose the ICE ola kids watches for the girls, in colours Princess and Fairytale. The colours are beautiful and a huge hit with both Willow and Allana, in fact Willow doesn’t have a favourite and will regularly switch between the two.

We have been trying to teach Willow about hours and minutes using her wooden teaching clock and now with her new Ice-Watch we can continue her learning outside of the house. The numbers on the dial are big and clear so very easy for her to read and it definitely seems to be helping with her learning, she now points to and counts to 12 around the dial with ease.

Allana is still a little too young to understand time or the idea of it but she loves to copy her big sister. She has now taken quite a liking to the wooden learning clock with its shape sorter and of course wants to wear her Ice-Watch to match Willow. The watch straps are made from the softest silicone and even fit Allana’s tiny baby wrists without causing her any irritation or annoyance.

My watch, the ICE lo in Turquoise, is absolutely gorgeous, it really adds a bit of extra sparkle to every day but would also make a beautiful accessory for a holiday or special occasion. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done the washing up or bath time and panicked about my watch, before remembering they’re all water resistant! Perfect for the Summer months when the littles are in and out of the paddling pool or sea, and one less thing for us parents to remember to remove.

Are your children showing any interest in time yet? Or already learnt to tell time? I’d love to know how you got along and what helped you to teach them.

*Disclaimer- We were sent these watches in return for an honest review, all words and opinions are my own.

These watches look so kid-proof – I bet they would hold up well to the abuses a child doles out when playing with toys! #bigpinklink

I love your Ice Watch. My bargain basement watch is pretty grotty from being plunged into the washing up when I forget to take it off. I started wearing a watch again when I had a baby as I don’t want her to learn about time from my phone, or to be always looking at it even more than I do. She loves my watch and even at 21-months is fascinated by it. I have promised to get her one soon. Maybe we’ll both get a snazzy new Ice Watch. #bigpinklink

Great looking watches. As a teacher I know how hard kids find telling the time – it’s great that you’re starting with them so young! Hope the watches help #bigpinklink

This is a great idea to take learning out of your home! My little boy is still too young to understand time keeping, but the Ice watch seems like a great tool to get kids interested and feel grown up at the same time. #bigpinklink

These watches are gorgeous. I’m so impressed your three year old is taking an interest in telling the time already – my kids have taken ages to get the hang of it and as a teacher, it’s one of the hardest things to teach. #bigpinklink
