Just Hannah Jane

If you’ve read my blog before you’ll be aware that I might be just a small fan of cake and anything sweet, so when BakerDays asked if I’d like to try one of their ‘letterbox’ cakes, the answer was a very easy and excited yes!

BakerDays specialise in personalised cake design, in an array of different sizes and flavours. You can choose from a ‘letterbox’ cake (yes, it really does fit through the letterbox!!) up to their ‘large’ 12″ cake.

BakerDays really live up to their name by providing hundreds of designs for every occasion- from Birthdays, New Baby to Hen Parties and Good Luck- you name it, they’ve probably got it. Each of these can be customised with whatever you require. If, like me, you want something completely personalised then they offer the ‘Design Your Own’ range where you can pick a picture and words or your choice. As well as a wonderful selection of flavours to choose from, I chose Vanilla but there is also Chocolate, Fruit, Half & Half with the added options of Gluten Free or Dairy Free for those with Allergies or Dietary requirements.

The cake came perfectly and beautifully packaged in this beautiful tin, with an added bonus of a small packet of sweet treats. I was worried about the cake arriving in one piece but I needn’t of been concerned, the cake was inside an airtight plastic wrapping and then placed securely within the tin.

After following the enclosed instructions I easily removed our delicious smelling cake and bought it in to show the family. Our Toddler’s immediate reaction was to shout out ‘WOW, Cake!’ promptly followed by her sitting up and the dining table ready to eat a slice.

The cake was covered in just the right amount of icing to top both the cake and board. The icing was heavenly, both my husband and I usually find icing a little thick and too sweet, but honestly, we agreed that this was just perfect. The cake was easy to slice through and had a gorgeous moist soft sponge texture, I had worried it may have a dense consistency as the cake can be kept for up to 14 days but this definitely was not the case.

I think it’s pretty clear that the cake was awarded a thumbs up by my daughter. She was rather disappointed when I told her there was none left after her second (small) slice.

We’ll definitely be ordering cakes from BakerDays in the future, especially this letterbox option. I am a fairly disorganised person and regularly forget a celebration or birthday until the day before the event! But luckily BakerDays have solved this issue for me, if you order the cake before 2pm, they can offer next day delivery! What a perfect little gift for someone, I know I’d be more than happy to receive a yummy little cake on my birthday (Hint, hint, nudge, nudge!) and I’m pretty sure my family and friends will feel the same.

Check out BakerDays delicious selection of cakes and cupcakes on their website or have a little look at them on Twitter and Facebook.

Thank you BakerDays for giving me the opportunity to review one of your delicious and beautiful cakes, it was definitely welcomed by the whole family.

I love the idea of a cake that fits through a letter box! Especially one that is so beautifully decorated, what a great business!
