Just Hannah Jane

This will be Hubby and I’s fifth Christmas living together and our second in our little family home, after four years of the same tree and decorations I’ve decided to change it up a little. As always I’ve been spending some (a lot) of time over on Pinterest getting some inspiration so I thought I’d share a little post of my favourite ideas.

For the past few years our tree has been decorated with black, silver and Nightmare Before Christmas Baubles. This year I know I am going to keep my Disney baubles (they’ll never go) but I also wanted to have a more wintery feel to our decorations. I love the early dark nights and cooler days of Winter so I want to celebrate this with our Christmas decorations this year.

I adore the cosy feel of this Scandinavian style Christmas decor, the white and grey is so simple yet inviting and sophisticated, unfortunately we don’t have a fireplace in our home now we live in a new build but I could definitely see ways of incorporating this style in the way of throws and blankets.

Although I’m not usually a fan of tinsel, the fluffy white tinsel in this instantly had me thinking of soft white snow and I love all the animals hiding amongst the decorations.

This little animal wonderland is just gorgeous, I’m loving the slightly ‘rustic’ feel and think the Owl Tree Topper adds a little something different and special. With two small children I definitely want to have some fun elements in the decorations and adding a few cute animal ornaments could do the trick.

I’m really drawn to the darker colours in this Nordic Christmas decor, it really looks like a cosy Winter’s night in. This could really achievable with just a few dark blue or grey baubles and a soft fluffy rug too.

The blue and brown in this is a pleasant twist to the usual white winter wonderland, living in the South West we rarely get snow so actually this feels truer to Winter for me.

We have now treated ourselves to a few new decorations and Christmas tree. I cannot wait to put it all together whilst enjoying a delicious hot chocolate and listening to some wonderful Christmas tunes and I’ll definitely be sharing the finished result on here too. Willow is now asking daily to put up the tree so I can definitely see a few small Christmas decorations appearing over the next couple of days and weeks before we go full on Christmas mode with the tree.

Do you have a Christmas decor theme and when is it acceptable to put up the Christmas tree in your house?

You would be mortified to learn that we are not going to have a proper tree this year. We are living away from home temporarily and the tree is at our other place. I will definitely be putting something festive up and about, though!

Get the decs out on December 1st. Make the most of them, because by the new year we’re all sick of the sight of them and are happy to get them down. So max out the time at the start – that’s what I say. I love putting them up and the girls still love decorating the tree, even now they are older. Thank you for some great inspiration. The Scandinavian theme is v cool. I have stuck with very simple reds and golds for years but think I may have to change it up now we have a little one to something a little less simple, a bit more fun #bigpinklink

These are so gorgeous. We have a red and gold theme in our house at Christmas because I have always found the white decorations a little cold. However this year I am obsessed with Scandi themed decorations. I’m not sure I will be able to persuade Hubby to let me change my entire collection of decorations….

Oh these are gorgeous. I’m afraid I am one of those tacky people where nothing matches, everything is chucked on no matter the colour or style – some stuff made by nieces and nephews, decorations from all kinds of shops, tinsel, lights, everything I just love it all! Last year as our baby was due end of November we put the tree up really early to get it done. This year with a one year old running about I think I might put it off for a while… he’s going to have a field day trying to pull the tree down and get the decorations off!! #bigpinklink

I love the Scandinavian tree look and the fluffy white tinsel. We also live in a new build and I must admit that I have really missed a fire – especially at Christmas time, so last year we ended up ordering a free standing fire place with same day delivery as we were putting the tree up. That night it looked so magical and we couldn’t believe it was the same room with the fire and all the twinkly lights. I’ve loved it ever since as it kept us cosy after Christmas too! Can’t wait to see your finished tree this year. A Nightmare Before Christmas tree sounds brilliant though – Miss Tot would have loved to have seen that too! xx #bigpinklink

Pinterest is so dangerous! My whole life we never really had a colour theme on the Christmas tree and when I see one which is all one theme I find them a bit boring. I love a colour mash so I have all the colours on mine, every year when I was growing up I chose a new ball ball and when I moved out my mum gave me them, so I proudly display them all on my tree! #bigpinklink

Ooh, they’re all sooooo beautiful, but I think the white and grey Scandinavian one just tipped it for me!! I was never allowed to touch our Christmas tree with decorations, when I was younger-my mum had OCD about where everything went! She would also never have a real one, because they were ‘too messy.’ My first Christmas in my first house, I went out, bought the biggest real tree I could fit in the house, and took total delight in decorating it! It remains one of my favourite things to do, in the entire year. The boys still aren’t interested in decorating one, but when they are, I’m going to get two, and we can do one each! I want to change my colour scheme and decorations this year, so I’ll take some inspiration from here! Xx

Pinterest is so dangerous, it fuels our imagination and steals our pennies! I love the idea of themed trees but ours is in fact a completely eclectic mix of ideas and homemade decorations. We are thinking a real tree this year but I’m concerned about our two young cats who might see it as a challenge.
Some great ideas here, my fave is the dark nordic one.
Our tree goes up on the last Sunday of November which is a week today – yay!
